Rebuilding of the Temple wasn’t For God

God’s people build great temples to worship God, but God doesn’t need our human temples. He only wants us to be in relationship with him.

The rebuilding in Nehemiah and Ezra is not about a building alone, it is bringing people back into relationship with God. These stories of the foundation being laid and people wept and cheered – it was a sign of returning to relationship with God. God didn’t need the temple – but the people did – it was a sign that they wanted to worship God and be in relationship with him.

Even with the re-populating of Jews to Jerusalem – people failed and returned to their old ways. We are weak, but it is not God that turns his back on us – it is us who turn our backs to God.

No matter where you worship today – praise God and love him. Be in relationship with him.

We need that relationship. The good news is that Christ Jesus died for us and God loves us.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
