Global Positioning System – GPS – great stuff when you don’t know where you are going,
but if you know where you want to go and your settings are off – you end up in places you didn’t want to go.
God – is like that too. If we focus on him we know he is leading us on the right path, but if we lose focus or change the settings we may be lead to go down the wrong path.
It all has to do with our settings. Are we looking for the shortest path, which may lead to destruction or are we looking to follow God for the long haul and following his commandments.
The great commission that we have, if you never knew your purpose read-from Matthew. After Jesus Christ’s death on the cross, he was buried and resurrected on the third day. Before he ascended into heaven, he appeared to his disciples in Galilee and gave them these instructions:
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (NIV)
Another thing is to realize that sometimes God leads us to places that might make us feel uncomfortable and scary. Relying on the Holy Spirit you can do anything with the power of God. Especially if that is truly God’s will to forwarded his Kingdom.
If it wasn’t for the GPS the other day, Don and I wouldn’t have seen a beautiful part of Maryland and Pennsylvania. Farms and country side were just beautiful. We would have missed all that beauty – to save ourselves 30 minutes. It definitely is a beautiful part of our country. We also were on an historic highway – Highway 30 – Lincoln Hwy for a few miles.
What Road are you on, do you know where God is leading you, or are you leading yourself. The path is narrow with God, but it is worth it. God gives us a promise of eternal life – couldn’t ask for a better path to follow.
